First Night Celebrates Summer
Kicks-off on Tuesday, July 8 at 6 pm
Celebrate the legacy of Elma Lewis with FREE summer performances on Tuesdays at Franklin Park. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic and get ready to enjoy some hot entertainment throughout July and August, including contemporary dance, Afro-Latin jazz, gospel, African and Brazilian drumming -- and lots more! The seriesĀ kicks-off on Tuesday, July 8 at 6 pmwith a performance by legendary folk singer and activist ODETTA. All performances take place (weather permitting) at the Playstead, between White Stadium and the back entrance of the Franklin Park Zoo.
The Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park is produced for the Franklin Park Coalition by First Night, in cooperation with the City of Boston, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, ParkARTS, and the National Center for Afro-American Artists, with support from The Boston Foundation, Clipper Ship Foundation, A.C. Ratshesky Foundation, Mabel Louise Riley Foundation, an anonymous donor, and many local Franklin Park supporters.

Summer Puppet Shows at the Puppet Showcase Theater!
Wednesdays & Thursdays at 10:30 AM &1:30 PM
The Puppet Showcase Theater in Brookline is opening its doors this summer on July 2nd and 3rd for the premier of "Rumplestiltskin", and will continue with weekly shows though August. The theater is wheelchair accessible and located opposite the Brookline Villlage T station. Admission is $10 per person ($8 for members), with group rates available for 20+ people.
